this argument matter? the "a-team" will be here to talk about the obama rule and why it matters a great deal. the interior secretary said to ride off into the sunset, but he leaves a luxurious legacy of government waste. ken salazar opulent washington legacy next. president obama dividing america again, this time over gun ownership and the second amendment. we will take it up in the form with a pro-gun advocate and the mother of a victim of the virginia tech shooting next. lou: president obama today signed 23 executive actions on gun-control. we are joined now by the director of communications for gun owners of america and the viejo organizer of the coalition to stop gun violence. her daughter was shot twice during the 2007 virginia tech massacre, and she survived. thank you both for being with us. i am going to begin, if i may, with you and your reaction to the president's actions today. did it satisfy you, the degree to which he asserted some effort to control guns in this country? >> i am behind the president's efforts to oust top gun violence in this country. i believe that we have an ep
there is enough dark thought of barack obama and the emerging tyranny. it was a large defense of the people against an overbearing and oppressive state. >> if you hear the rhetoric, they are talking about marble. they loved petitions. it shows them a majority want this. he even talked about the mandate. the mandate from the people to do whatever he wants to do. he has a mandate to act as president and not rewrite the constitution. >> you are frightened. >> absolutely. the government is responsible for some of the horrors of our history. >> americans flocked to gun stores to stock up. sales rising dramatically as the owners hope to preempt a possible ban. there are four times as many gun retailers as there are mcdonald's restaurants. in europe, we have accepted the idea that only the state and only the authorities should legitimately use violence. >> my response is that people in europe have been kowtowed to the point over the years that they don't know that they are missing all of these rights that we have over here. we have had that right for so long, it is ingrained in the american spirit
about business. >> let's talk about obama care. it's to cover all health care employees. you have compared that to fascism. why? >> i thank was a bad choice of words on my part. i regret that. >> do you really? >> yes. >> first socialism, then fascism. what is it now? >> it has a socialism like a dictate orship. know e we no longer have free enterprise capitalism in health care. it's not a system any longer where people are able to innovate not based on voluntary exchange. the government is directing it. we need a new word for it. >> i'm less concerned about the word but why are you so opposed. why did you use a word like that? >> i'm a businessman, a capitalist. i believe in the free market. i believe in letting people voluntarily exchange with each other for gain. >> here's an interests quote from a new yorker profile of you. the man who has done as much as anyone to bring the natural food movement into the mainstream is also a vocal libertarian, orthodox free market and an add miezier or milton and reagan. that expresses your political philosophy? >> i a
. you know, in policies, kind of according to what president obama wanted to do yesterday. >> let's talk about that. the president unveiled plans to curb gun violence yesterday. i want to listen to part of what he said. >> okay. >> congress should restore a ban on military style assault weapons and a ten-round limit for magazines. the type of assault rifle used in aurora, for example, when pared with a high-capacity magazine has one purpose. to pump out as many bullets as quickly as possible. >> it looks unlikely that the president will get ab assault ban by the senate. how do you feel about that? >> you know, just the fact that he is hearing our plea not only from aurora, but from newtown, from tucson, from all of these different places, you know, our pleas are being heard, and that is that we hope that, you know, other -- there are other people out there every day, getting killed, and we're trying to c b curb -- get some kind of policy in place so 34 people aren't affected every day due to gun violence. >> almost two weeks ago, you mentioned what would help you heal if cinemark would
the nra stands by the idea that president obama will see abolish? >> yes. charles: we will talk to you again soon. we believe this will be one of the fights of the century. i want to interest -- introduce jenna diana, scott page, judge andrew napolitano is here and as always nicole petallides on the floor of the new york stock exchange. you heard the interview. what your thoughts? >> this -- the nra is way off. no one is trying to take away the second amendment or guns. they're trying to control something that is out of control. there's no reason for high-capacity magazines or assault weapons. i went on line with my i had last night and was ready to buy one. is ridiculous. there is already control in place what type of weapon we can have. moving that bar another step to control that might save lives and make a difference in this country we have to change. it is out of control and the nra is doing nothing but promoting fear and confusion. >> legislatively obama will have a hard time pushing these through with magazines, reinstating an assault ban rifle, have a hard time with democrats i
that as an amen moment or listen to the president or not yesterday and you start talking ant and some lawmakers referred to him as king obama and tyranny, is that fringe or is that a larger portion of the nra's supporters and not just its leadership? >> well, i think it's a little of both. they have a longer ad which is about four minutes and as they sort of lay out the double down on this idea of the president's kids, mentioned david gregory's kids, as well. they have a ticker showing the nra membership going up because of the fight. the nra in this ad, it isn't about truth but propaganda. it is about ginny up support of gun lobby, for buying guns. it's about ginnying up a membership and donors to that organization. and they do that very well. i mean, i think historically, when's happened to the nra is the court controversy and in that way they become more powerful because they're able to swell their membership. >> so in fairness, chris, i won't ask you relating to republicans but to some democrats, joe manchin's comments regarding the president said i'm disappointed the president did not reco
obama's 49th birthday. i'm sure she loves we're all talking about that. it's not clear what her and the president's plans are, but our brianna keilar had this exchange with white house press secretary, jay carney. >> and finally it's the first lady's birthday today, i believe. >> it is. >> can you tell us anything about how the president and the first family are celebrating her birthday? >> i don't want to ruin the surprise. >> anything that may have already happened? >> no, you know -- >> he's not waiting until the very end of the day to acknowledge -- >> you know, that's a personal thing. i don't have anything for that on you -- on that for you. >> we do know that mrs. obama launched a new twitter account today, @flotu. and wolf's favorite breaking news of the day, and she tweeted out a photo, revealing a new look, get this bangs, everybody! so the first lady celebrating her birthday with a new hairdo and of course happy birthday. >> very happy birthday to the flotus, the first lady of the united states, as opposed to the potus, the president of the un
abortion. he could -- that dr. you were talking to, he knows. they do not care. the democrats and obama do not care there have been 53 million a babies killed in america. host: all right. we are talking about guns this morning. 61,500 collectors, 51,000 retail shops, 7300 pawnshops and other -- 9600. firearms manufactured in the u.s., 5.4 million. 2.2 million of those were pistols. 1.8 million were rifles. 743,000 or shotguns. 68,000 miscellaneous. back to the president's 23 executive actions signed yesterday. here is no. 15. direct the attorney general to issue a report on the availability of the most effective use of new density technologies and challenge the private sector to develop innovative technologies. clarify that the affordable care act does not prohibit doctors asking their patience about patiencein their homes. release a letter to health-care providers clarifying no federal law prohibits them from reporting threats of violence in law enforcement authorities. provide incentives for schools to hire skilled resource officers. developed model emergency response plans for schools,
is wider than obama's cabinet. >> someone hasn't seen me flow. >> and by the way, andy i got swag. >> i believe you have swag. jay she is talking about something she got at a fashion show. >> we got a free bag of goodies. >> you said this is what diversity courses are like. critical theory is stupid. but do you think the notion of white privilege should be scorned? >> i think teaching a class on it where you have -- i can only imagine -- actually i know exactly what was probably going on in those classes. i have been in schools with them. i think it is appalling. and it leads to a victimization. some kid believe they are victims and some believe they are oppressors. that's not good for anyone. >> have i a solution for this, andy. i think they should teachers and these classes on white privilege, but only for the white students. >> the joke was the white privilege. >> greg, sometimes the lack of laughter doesn't mean we didn't get it. i have learned that. >> kennedy, you said this is about saying if somebody is white it makes they will bad. to be fair that's not what critical race theory
to me, boogety-boogety cheese. >> stephanie: yeah. we have just been talking about -- the president -- this is just a perfect example of obama derangement he comes forward with measures that the polls show the american people are largely behind. and i don't even know what to say about the nra ad saying the president's children -- first of all the children are off limits. second of all -- what? >> yeah, use your brain holes. they were saying the problem wasn't guns it is mental illness, but they failed to mention the mental illenings was their own. by the way the majority of their own members believe there should be restrictions in place to retain guns. you have to get a license to fish, hunt, drive a car, build a house, how it is that you don't need a license to purchase ammunition? the kid in aurora purchased tens of thousands of rounds on the internet. what it is -- as you said it's obama derangement. but i'm really happy that he said i'm going to sign every piece of legislation in to law as i can. >> stephanie: yeah i just watched the video of george bush sayi
suggested. just deal with it in a rational level. >> okay. so we're talking about dealing with this in an intellectual way, the nra ad using obama's children to make a point. maria in. >> to use will's word, that is absolutely despicable. the children of president, the spouses of presidents, president's families are off limits and so i think the majority of americans believe that ad was absolutely d despicable. i think bringing into this the effect that this event had on children is something that we have to think about. and, frankly, majority of americans, including gun owners, believe that we do have to do more in term of sensible regulations and making sure that we do anything and everything that we can for this not to happen again and a lot of opponents, not even all republicans or nra members because that's not the case, a lot of the opponents for any measure here are going to be using that argument that it is a weak intellectual argument. no. let's talk about what can be done, if anything can be done. we should be doing it to keep this from happening again. >> and wi
, michelle obama did it when it came to health care. she talked about her daughter's bmi, blacking about it, for them to say, you're not allowed in any way, shape, or form or capacity to talk about our children and the impact of public policy, hypocrisy. >> gretchen: michelle always has an opinion about every issue of the day. have a fantastic week. >> take care. >> gretchen: coming up, honey, they shrunk the foot long. subway coming up short. then senator marco rubio says the president doesn't believe in the he second amendment and he should have the guts to admit it. he explains his thoughts. right back [ male announcer ] this year, make safety your top priority and save hundreds with our best offer. get an adt security system starting at just $49 installed, but for a limited time only. that's an instant savings of $250. don't leave your family's safety to chance when you can take advantage of these savings now. call or visit adt.com/tv. both: i had a break-in. man: by the time we called the police, there wasn't much they could do. i felt so helpless. adt quickly called the police. i felt
